Energy/Housing Services, Brazos Valley Community Action Programs
Energy/Housing Services of BVCAP offer income qualified, employed households assistance with rent or utilities, appliances, minor home improvements to increase energy efficiency and lower costs.

Bryan/College Station Habitat for Humanity
B/CS Habitat for Humanity builds simple, decent and affordable homes in partnership with people who live in substandard housing, and who are unable to secure adequate housing by conventional means. This self-help program requires each perspective homeowner to donate 400 hours of “Sweat Equity,” building other Habitat homes as well as their own, and participation in a series of classes to learn fiscal responsibility, home repair and maintenance and responsible home ownership. Once the home is built, homeowners buy the home at cost through a zero interest 20-30 year mortgage.

City of Bryan Community Development
The City of Bryan Community Development may provide eligible persons up to $7,500 in funds for down payment and closing cost assistance for eligible home purchases within the Bryan City Limits. All assistance is limited based on funding availability.

The City of College Station Community Development offers down payment assistance to eligible home buyers purchasing a home within the city limits of College Station.

U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development
USDA Rural Development has been helping rural Americans become homeowners since 1949. The direct Homeownership Loan Program offers home loans to lower income individuals and families who are unable to obtain credit elsewhere, with interest rates as low as one percent and no down payment. For higher income individuals and families, the guaranteed loan program offers one hundred percent financing with no down payment required.

The BVCOG Home-ownership Programs
The BVCOG Home-ownership Program services the seven counties of Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson and Washington. Participation in the program is strictly limited to families who are currently receiving assistance under the Housing Choice Voucher Program. Qualified applicants: 1) must be a current participant in the Housing Choice Voucher Program; 2) must be income-eligible and have an annual income not less then $14,500 per year for a a regular family and not less than $8,088 per year for a disabled and/or elderly family; 3) must be employed full-time and have been continuously employed for one year prior to commencement of home-ownership assistance; 4) must be a first time home-buyer.
