(College Station, Texas) – The Brazos Valley Affordable Housing Corporation is pleased to announce an expansion of the Financial Fitness Center. With this new Center, BVAHC will provide financial counseling and coaching to the Greater Brazos Valley with an emphasis on Low and Moderate Income families.
“United Way has experienced great success working with BVAHC on the Financial Fitness Center, ” says Alison Prince, United Way Interim Executive Director. “This new chapter will greatly increase our visibility and impact in the community. Our collaboration with the Brazos Valley Council of Government's Family of Agencies will offer us an opportunity to truly change lives,” says the Financial Fitness Center’s Director of Financial Coaching, Byron Haney.
The Financial Fitness Center has provided one-on-one financial coaching to the Brazos Valley community since 2012. With the mission to transform the financial stability of individuals and families, the Center has helped over 110 individuals and families develop healthy financial habits, build or increase savings, acquire assets, and plan for the future. The Center utilizes Bank on Brazos Valley Partners as volunteer financial coaches to provide financial education to community members.
“The need for financial literacy and importance of savings is becoming more and more critical,” states Paul Turney, Executive Vice President, Brazos Valley Affordable Housing Corporation. “By combining the resources of these organizations, we will be able to leverage our respective capacity to reach more households and improve the quality of financial health for more of our neighbors in the Brazos Valley. We encourage other organizations to partner with us and help this effort ripple across the Brazos Valley region.”
